Discuss Sleeving in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Can't think of any reason why you would if you sleeve the cables in the new CU do you then sleeve the cables at all of the accessories

No. You only need to sleeve to show a wire is not what its colour says it is. (usually in lighting systems). An interesting point is when you have to work on a light switch that was never sleeved and the cables are in red and black, do you sleeve the black in red, or is brown ok ?- lol my inspector had no answer and really it is a pathetic point as long as thecable is sleeved in brown to show it as a live then I see no problem. Any one who doesnt know that both cables in a switch arelive are unlikely to know what coloured sleeving means anyway and shouldnt be in there !

Where the installation contains wiring colours to two versions of BS7671 a warning notice must be fixed on or next to the ccu. 514.14.1
No need to sleeve old coloured cables.
