Hi everyone

Want to install 4 x 50 watt 12v down lighters, could sombody please tell me how to work out the amps this load will pull?

It cant be 4x50w=200/12= surely thats not right that works out at 16.6 amps!!??

never did fully understand trasformers
Any help would be most welcome

Is it not still divided by 230v?

its as electricalserve has said total wattage Divide by 230 so 200/230 = 0.87amps thats total load, each transformer will supply a current of 4.1 amps that is the secondary current not the primary which is 50/12 = 4.1a hence your 16 amps

It is indeed !!! the 16A is the total of what the 4 transformers are providing, ...or 4.16A each
