SMA Inverter Troubles

Hi,

I remember seeing a post a few months back about the SMA being in the wrong settings (e.g. German) when someone wanted it to be in English which was affecting the technical side of the inverter.

Anyone got a link to this or able to explain how I would go about changing the settings please?

I remember that a program was needed.

If it's an old inverter and has no dials, how would I go about changing it then?

You need a blue tooth piggyback card to communicate with the inverter, this is for sb transformer inverters not sb tl's. Download sunny explorer, obtain grid guard code from SMa which gives you parameter access then change params as required.

Couldnt change the one I had issues with (1700), had to be returned despite having explorer, piggyback and grid code.

Initially SMA told me that it was not fit for UK market and should be returned to my supplier.

My supplier said rubbish and sold me a piggyback device.......

3 weeks and many frustrating hours later the supplier finally agreed that it could NOT be programmed for G83 and gave me a UK replacement.

If you can't change a sma classic to uk grid settings then the only way is to request a new EPROM chip with the latest firmware. Sunny explorer and grid guard code are then required to change country settings...
