Hi All

Quick question I have been asked to install some smoke alarms due to a recent loft conversion....

I am aware that smokes need to be mains powered and interlinked (bottom, middle and top floors) however i believe that all rest of habitable rooms can be battery powered + Interlinked... (which will help decor due to laminate flooring)....

My question is can Mains powered smokes and battery powered smokes be interlinked together?, as never installed before? If so can anyone recommend any good but cheap ones??

Also what is the going daily rate to charge out for electrical work, as been asked by builder for a daily rate... not too sure on whats competitive...

interlinking of smoke alarms is by mains. only other way to do it is go wireless.

Aico wireless, obviously mains with battery back up, easy to link to a lamp by rodding along the joist line, should be >300mm from lamp.

I charge ÂŁ150 for half day or ÂŁ200 for full day

I thought you could have mains powered alarms but radio frequency interlinking??? I know you can also get battery powered alarms with RF interlinking but just wondered if could link mains feed and battery feed together via RF?

wireless smokes (still mains fed) the inter link between them is the wireless part. They work really well, but are quite expensive

Ive not seen or heard of battery only RF linked alarms, do you know who makes them?

ya -i've used them on my own house

you can mix battery rf ,mains (wired interconnect), and mains wireless interconnect
on same system
-if the need arises and regulations allow

Sorry to hijack the thread but does anyone know if you can buy a device to link 2 devices that are already fitted? Both mains fed but not interlinked.
