Here we go again.!!!!!

DID the Builder provide an electrical certificate for the electrical installation he/she had installed (mains Smoke Detectors).?????

NO HE DIDN'T…!!!

Get a Sparky in as he/she has clearly wired this via the switch/live return..

Not totally disastrous.. There is a simple fix.

NO, you can have a fire any time you want or don’t want.
it would appear that you might be better to leave the lights on so you get some warning if you do have a fire.
unless of course the fire is caused by the lighting circuit and in that case it might have been better to leave them off.

The smoke alarms will beep annoyingly too whenever the lights are turned off as they won't be powered. It's either an easy fix by an electrician at the light feeding the alarm, or a massive ball ache if somehow there's only a switch line there now.

Ask to see your

DFHN19C - Certificate Of Design, Installation And Commissioning Of A Fire Detection And Fire Alarm System Of Grade C, D Or F In Domestic Premises.

if they have touched the fire alarm system, and the

DCN18C - Domestic Electrical Installation Certificate - Small installations up to 100A Single phase supply

if they have done any electrical work for you. If they haven't touched any electrics during the works, that's a 1/1,000,000 chance unlucky screw through your cable

Why those specific handwritten forms? there is absolutely no requirement for NICEIC branded paperwork or for them to be hand written.

I just copied and pasted the form names I'd have to fill out on the NICEIC online certification website if I'd adapted a fire alarm installation or done more than minor electrical work. Half my work is local authority so certs are mandatory. They're definitely digital forms.

I'm testing the alarms and signing the certificates when liable for safety equipment,
