Morning all,

Just about to start a job in a shop that has been empty for a while, it was used as a news agent before, the landlord has had all the existing electrics ripped out so there is nothing south of the meter,
i am working, not for the landlord , but for the new tennant, the shop will now be used as a clothing outlet and household stuff, ther will also be a kitchen area for staff.
Also there is a two story flat above, the c.u. was running, via 16mm t+e, from the shop c.u. on a 50 amp m.c.b.
The flat is empty and the staircase is only accessible from inside the shop so to re-let , there would have to be a new staircase re-positioned.
The flat will not be re-connected be myself electricaly.
The instalation will consist of sockets and lightsset in sud partitions an ceiling, now to the point..the tennant also wants and i quote " Chuck a couple off those smoke alarms things in will ya mate" ..
Now ..my question is.. how do you see this?? are domestic smoke detectors reconised in commercial outlets?
Would really like advice on this one lads

yes they are however they need to all be linked as there is occupancy above the shop .either 3 core&e or with radio bases .the other option is to go for a dedicated fire panel with all the nessacary call points & sounders etc .the feed for either should be from a landlords supply so neither party may remove the supply

Thanks for reply cegsdj,

Yes if i put in smokes they would be mains / interconnected, the tennant is never gonna spend on a fire panel, so i was hoping that a domestic type detectors woulod be ok.
