If you put smokes in flats, should you interconnect the sensors between flats, or just in the flats themselves. Also, if you're putting a heat in the kebab shop downstairs, for example, should you interconnect this with the smokes in the flats? Anyone, any ideas?? Ta.

I would interconnect the sensors within each flat, and the sensors and break-glasses in the communal areas, but not between flats or the whole lot will go off when one person decides to test them, or if someone burns the toast.

a central system for the entire building -probably including a sounder and 1 detector in each flat(entrance )
additional 'local' mains interconnected alarms in each flat

some of the more sophisticated panels could encompass the entire building and program delays in the flats to avoid triggering alarms needlessly

that would be my thinking

has to be crossover between the flats /hall/downstairs to ensure early warning without excessive nuisance
