Gents/Ladies..

Start the 2395 on the 8th March. Had a freebie from the tutour last friday though, only 3 hrs worth to get an introduction of the course. im not afraid to admit it didnt make much sense at all. I knew before going that it was going to be tough, and definately way out my depth, but i thought with the right attitude and hard work i could get through it. Im now wondering if its worth doing the course, even though my employer is paying for it!

Any help ANYWHERE just to get a head start would be great guys.

Much appreciated.

You could do a lot worse than reading through guidance note 3 and the inspection and testing parts of the onsite guide.
As I was told when I started the 2391 there's nothing in the course which you don't already know - it just goes into more detail.

read Gn3 , regs 2011 , osg , electricity at work regs GS38 cant be much diferent to the 2391-10
jsut go on amazon and get some books on testing etc but look for the ones that are upto date some like the new GN3 isnt out yet but think it due
the amended Bs7671 came into force 1st of jan so thats a deffinate especially as your doing the newer 2395 and also should be using in carrying out your work read part 6 and 7 a lot and also the rest a bit less
but mainly would think its based round GN3
and make sure you know the new certificate and whats on it ie the EICR
have you done the 2394 and now your doing the 2395 which are replacing the 2391-10

good luck i did the 2391 by just studying as much of the above

The 2395 is the Periodic Inspection and Test qual. Make yourself very familiar with the new Electrical Installation Condition Report forms in the back of the green BS7671, but also make sure you are still up to speed with the old PIR forms. C&G tell me that until April when the new GN3 comes out, they will stick to the existing version, but then C&G tell me all sorts of things!

I start to deliver the 2394 and 2395 from April. I am reluctant to deliver an expensive, and difficult course, when the learning material covers 2 versions of BS7671, it has cock up written all over it.

The practical 2395 will be the same as the 2391, and anything to do with carrying out the tests in the correct order should not appear, as this will be part of 2394 Initial Verification.

At the moment i am in discussion as to whether or not to run 2394 and 5 together as it is just 2391 split in 2. The only spanner in the works are that there is one written exam for each qual, and one practical assessment for each, the new online exam covers both.

Watch this space.

Cheers............Howard
