Need some advice.
We do a lot of electrical work for an upscale kitchen company. Avg price of ÂŁ25000+
And most of the time the customers want a '' Stream Line '' look. So want as many as the socket hidden away as possible '' ie pop up sockets, roll over socket or socket in cupboards or ontop.

What do people think of placing sockets in cupboards, which ovs will be filled in the norm and wont be accessible without emptying cupboards, inside sink cupboards. And above cooker housing, which wont be accessible without a step ladder of some kind?

I cant see any other options? Without having sockets, fuse spurs and cooker panels above the work top.

Many thanks.

I too do big money kitchens as part of my work.
customers do not want to see a row of isolators on the wall for appliances that will never be switched off that's for sure.
modern appliances have to no room to get a plug at the in at the back of them now anyway.
i see no problem fitting sockets in cupboards myself.
ive never been back to one that's been fitted in a unit I've done in the 12 years I've been doing the kitchens
how often have I switched of the hob and oven switches in my kitchen (that are on the wall I might add)
err never .

Thankyou.

For example,
An intergrated washing machine with a sink unit to the right and and draw unit to the left.
No space behind and no space in the draw unit.
Only option is to put in sink cupboard to right.

For example
a double housing for an oven and a warming draw below.
We put the cooker panel in the cupboard above the cooker and plug the warmer draw into the cooker panel.
Only accessible with a pair of steps.

I have just installed sockets in a kitchen , the appliances were SMEG bought directly by the customer , they had the euro plugs on them fitted into a 13 Amp socket adapter , the whole lot was moulded together and couldn't be separated , they projected about 100mm , I spoke to the company customer got them from , they said because of warranty issues this could not be removed , the appliances a tall integrated fridge and tall integrated freezer had no room at the rear for this , the only solution was the adjacent 300mm wide tall larder unit , but this had a pullout in it , but I managed to install the twin socket in a void with the face of the socket just about accessible and the plugs could be removed if needed..

Did you ask them what the warranty issue was? Or just believe the random stranger on the end of the phone knows what they are talking about?

Crack on tjc1 I do the same.as we know try fitting a socket behind an meile integrated appliance of most types and it will not fit standard depth units it has to go in the adjacent unit.

Today I had to connect a washing machine installed in a bathroom. Obviously I had to cut the moulded plug off and connect directly into the FCU.
What would those of you who are scared of voiding a warranty have done? Install a socket in the bathroom?
There's a lot of places in this local estate which have this setup

This was a company that sells appliances on line , the guy I spoke to would not commit himself fully because all warranty issues would be passed to another company , but made it clear that if the plug top was removed then this would be between me and this other company if a warranty issue arose , regardless of this situation , I already knew there could be an issue because I used to work for a regional electricity company when we had showrooms and we occasionally delivered and connected appliances , so I knew the score from those days...

So crack on TJC1 ....

As I asked earlier, please can you support this idea that the warranty will be void with some facts?

Under the sale of goods act the warranty on anything but the plug cannot be voided by cutting the plug off.

spurs and switches will be happy in the cupboard, no ones using them anyway as appliances have their own switches.
but when they want no sockets above the worktop... where will the kettle/toaster/food processoor plugged in?

Things like Evo port pop sockets and the like.
kettle ?pfff! For the lumpen proletariat only.
quooker taps and hydrofoil zip taps for these customers
which you could probably buy 20 kettles for but there you go
