Dont know if this is the right place to post this as its my first time! ok so i plug a martindale in to a soket and get 2 green lights meaning its wired properly but a beeping noise (not continuous), then when i use the socket the appliance doesnt work!! any ideas why this is???

Many thanks

Have you checked the fuse in the appliance mate ?

Also you can check to see if you martindale is doing the right thing if you check it in a socket outlet that you know is working correctly.

Just use a methodical process, hope this helps. ;)

Hi

What make is your socket tester???

Most socket testers I've come across emit a continuous beep when wiring is correct with 3 green lights. The fact that it does actually light up and make an intermittent beeping but the appliance doesn't work suggests two things....1 - the appliance is faulty, 2 - there is a neutral fault on the socket circuit.

yes mate they both work on a socket that is sound!! dont know why the martindale makes the intermediate beeping noise either?? i really need this to work tomorrow! theres a voltage there and wired correct.... i dont get it!
Thanks

lenny

not sure what the make is but it is def wired correct at the socket end and and the tester says its correct and has 2 green lights which is right. the applience def works as proved it on a seperate socket.the neutral fault is prob my best bet then!
Thanks for your time

If you're sure the sockets are wired correctly it might be voltage drop where the appliance is being fussy?

Check the voltage at the socket.....I had a circuit in an office in London years ago where a printer would not work....socket had 230V and the printer would not work below 235V.

Didnt we have a post like this not long ago ? as lenny said could be a neutral fault loose connection breaking down under load or nicked cable after diy etc do you have an insulation tester ? might be worth running the 500v ir test.
By the way if i havent already said hello and welcome Dixxy666.
