Hey guys..Hope all is well in your worlds :)

Basically I’ve been to look at a job and I just wanted to check I had the right method of installation before I went ahead.

Guy wants 2 TV's on the wall in two separate rooms. As it's a new build (Done pretty lame) getting a spur off local sockets is a big problem due to laminate floors/boards etc etc.

Now the loft has really good access above each wall to which to TV's will go onto and the lighting circuit up there is very accessible. I wanted to patch into the circuit with 2 separate JB's with Power IN/OUT and the feed out for the socket, then run the feed through a 3amp Fuse spur up in the loft then down into the stud work and into a sunken 13amp socket in the wall. That would be the plan for each TV.

In my head this works out as the best way but wanted to check regarding having a 13amp socket outlet fused from above where it can't be seen etc? I've always done this from below with the ring so never had this problem.

Thanks for any help in advance fellas

suggest as you plan, but use 5A round pin sockets and change plugs on TVs. that way, nobody can plug in an inappropriate appliance.

I second that, also it will only invalidate the warranty on the tv if the changing of the plug was to blame for the fault. My wife deals with things like this on a day to day basis.

if i spent £1500 on a TV for the bedroom, then i must be doing something wrong between the sheets!!!

The lighting sockets was a thought i'd had already. Considering the access from above(spurs) MIGHT be boarded over at some point then this might be the best idea.

Thanks for the ever helpfull advice guys :)

it'll prob be IEC connected to telly-so lead can be changed easily

not a big fan of appliances wired off lighting ccts unless absolutely neccessary

Not really acceptable on a new build IMO.
Lighting circuits are for lighting, and possibly fire detectors. Under extreme circumstances and when all other options have been exhausted you may be able to put it on a 5A socket (separately fused) but that's pushing the boundaries and shouldn't become the norm.
Couldn't you just spur off one of the sockets in the loft?

No sockets in the loft unfortunately. I will however be putting the TVs on lighting sockets and also fusing them just incase. Don't get me wrong I'm not happy doing this but all other avenues have been exhausted.
