Solar Cell Project - Motor not running | on ElectriciansForums

Discuss Solar Cell Project - Motor not running in the Solar PV Forum | Solar Panels Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

It has a Voc of 4.5V and an Isc of 18mA.

Put a Volt meter accros the terminals, and in sunlight make sure that you've got 4.5V.

Is 18mA enough to tun your motor?

What is the current flow when you connect a 4.5V battery to the motor?

If 18mA is not enough, add more cells in parallel. (put in a diode to stop accidental reverse flow if one of the panels isn't lit)

Make sure that the sun is shining on the panel, and you're not trying to do it in your room using the room lights!

Are you trying to say that, i need to get a battery with the solar panel?
If i get a battery then how will i connect it to motor since both the terminals will be connected to solar panel.

And could you suggest any battery??

Sorry for the heck, i am newbie.

Looks like there could be 3 options here

1. The solar cell is duff
2. The motor is duff
3. Your not harvesting enough power to run the motor.

For one, can you test that there is output on the cell, For two is there another power source you can test the motor on, and three is the same as one is there a way you can test the output

I have already tried to run a LED and LED lights up.
There is enough power.

I think someone said me solar cell gives current not voltage.
But i am confused over this, how do i get voltage?
