Hi,

Looking to get some advice and or assistance possibly if required. I had an iboost unit fitted when my pv system was installed at Christmas but yet to use it we had other problems with our system which are now resolved - I am concerned that when I did swich it on the fused switched spur buzzes in the tank cupboard. I understand the iboost is on its own mcb but do I need to get this looked into further or is this normal for the iboost. It was installed buy someone qualified but don't think they were use to working with an iboost. I would like to resolve it as we are exporting a lot of energy so would like to get this sorted once and for all.

Any help/guidance appreciated.

Many thanks

if the iboost is on it's own circuit with it's own MCB (16A?), it's a better idea to replace the FCU with a 20A D/P switch.

Depends if the flex 1.5mm good idea to stick with 13amp switch spur

Actually my bad it appears to be a 20 amp double pole switch with neon and no fuse. Will obtain one and try that first...if no good then will have to get outside help as will be beyond me..

Thanks all for your help so far....

I love the iboost. It's a fantastic product. I have never come across this buzzing before. Is it in the actual iboost, the 20a d pole switch or the imersion itself that's buzzing? I suspect it's as Jason 121 says a loose connection.

If you look through past posts of various immersion units, alot state that the associated mcb in the CU can buzz when the unit is diverting excess electric......

Buzzing with various Solar Immersion units is not uncommon, but just in case mention it to the installer ......

Ok so far so good. Had a sparky round checked mcb and cable etc. Dp switch ok. He thinks I was mistaking the buzz for immersion buzz rather than iboost or dp switch..oops lol... anyway its been working for a couple of days and pumped in over 10kwh so I am happy:wink_smile::wink_smile:
Thanks to those that responded...
