solar max going bust

I had an email today from spitfire selling off the 15kw inverter cheap, then find out solar max are going bust

I find it disgusting that a wholesaler throws an offer out knowing the manufacturer is going bust completely leaving the installed in the brown stuff!

Solarmax may still be a going concern. It is the parent Sputnik who are filing for insolvency.

I doubt if they will be the last. The price of Chinese Inverters must be making life difficult even for the strongest. They are all loosing market share.

I still have a load of leaflets from them on the table in the office from their recent sales visit. My not having the time to consider learning an entire new manufacturers kit saved me a load of wasted time there then, see also Hilti mounting kit.

Left it far too late to attempt to break into the UK market really.

Hope you've not been stung too much, though tbf the suppliers will also be left with a load of hard to sell stock on the shelves here.

Never used or even quoted for this brand. Always seemed a bit expensive and didn't have any amazing features as far as I could make out. The problems are probably global rather than specifically linked to the UK market.

but the UK market has been the biggest growing market in Europe while other countries have dropped rapidly in recent years, so the companies that got into the UK early are in a better position to survive a drop off in sales elsewhere.

I think SolarMax were always considered good quality but high price. Just lately (last 6 months) they dropped their pricing considerably for the UK market and perhaps that has something to do with this, I don't know. Bit sudden though, I thought they were doing ok over here.
