Looking for solar modules with > 5 year Product guarantee.
I am familiar with performance warrantees of 90% 10 years / 80% 25 years etc, but do any of the manufacturers have product guarantees > 5 years

Our supplier sent us through a link to the DAY4 website. They offer a 10 year product warranty.
I'll run them through PV sol later to see what they are like....

@BGallagher

What warrantees are you looking for mechanical or electrical?

Almost ALL the warrantees have such massive get out clauses that they make interesting reading and that's about it, usually with words like "will deliver additional PV Module(s) to replace the missing power output, or repair or replace the PV Module(s) at xxyy's own discretion" not sure how any of that would fit with the inverter configuration, let along physically fit in the array. :rolleyes:

A couple of panel manufacturers offer -0 +3% of the output, some others offer 7 year mechanical, as far as I am aware only SolarWorld offer a linear output warranty. (Not sure it means anything, other than they are the first / only ones so far to claim / offer it)

Cheers Worcester - my client is actually looking for product warrantees against defects in material & workmanship coming direct from the factory with more than 5 years. He hasn't yet shared with me the info he received to request these warranties.

Sharp, Sanyo, Schuco, Yingli etc all offer 5 years for example. Mitsubishi has some new products coming to the market with 10 years.
But you are right - like all manufacturers, they are very clever with their small print.

SunnyRoo offer a 7 year warranty on material and workmanship, however all warranties should be weighed up (how are they backed - insurance? ewill they ne around in 7 years, 10 years..), think of cars, just because someone offers an unlimited mileage warrantee doesn't mean it's the best car for the job!
