Seriously there is a shed load of stuff to know, there are some great 3-5 days courses out there that will teach you the basics, and even then it won't cover what you'll need to know for your first job!
No kidding, the basic hints and tips will take a minimum of 3 days to learn.
If they're giving you a 'free' two week holiday, the ibnvestment in the course will make it a cheap holiday!
Otherwise, the best you could do is to take up the offer of one of the MCS certified sparks here to come with you, and you goffer for them and learn as you go, you'll then start to learn some of the basics, though still a loooong way from knowing what is nesccessary to do your first install.
As a MINIMUM before you go you need to make sure they have all the materials, panels, rails, roof hooks, fixings, cable, do the local conditions need the array earthed, dc isolators, inverters, ac isolators, mcb's rcd's ratings, what's the roof construction, what's the access, whose providing the scaffold?
And that's just to THINK about doing it...
So really you have 2 options
1) - The best thing - take an MCS sparks with you
2) - Go on one of the PV courses.
There is just SOO much to know!
