Evening all, just a quick question.

Those of you who have trained to install solar panels, was it worthwhile? Have you seen the benefits? And has anyone gone through all the training and regretted it as a waste of money?

I'm curious to see what you all think before I make a decision to train up myself :)

This is not the first time PV has had a set back. This is a long game. Entry is not for the faint hearted or those who expect a quick return.

Every time the price of electricity goes up, the viability of PV increases. Currently prices are rising faster than Feed In Tariffs are falling. There will come a time within the next five years where PV becomes irresistible for any owner of a suitable roof or waste ground. Those with vested interests in old generating technology will be unable to resist. History is littered with similar examples. In the 19th century, whaling was the biggest industry on America's east coast. It disappeared in less than ten years due to paraffin and gas lamps.

If you already have another MCS technology adding an additional one is worth while as this is easier than going from scratch.

If you are going to do this, you need to be a specialist. It is no use having it as an add-on for occasional extra work. Equally, you need a plan B for times like now.

I have no regrets, but would think very hard if I wasn't already registered.

Right now, timing is everything. The clever investors are often the ones who enter at the bottom of the market.

if you ring around enough collages or training centres you should be able to get the PV course for free, there are alot of local councils funding training centres for renewable technologys.

i did it at totally the wrong time but dont regret it, it was stressful as i have my first two jobs up before i had my MCS and only one day spare between getting my MCS and the 43p cut off.

got two to look at this week. as said above the way electricity prices are going its only going to get better

Cheers
Grand

Solar is defo a great idea aslong as your roof is suitable but best way to find out is by having a free roof survey done as a lot of people who give figures without seeing your property aint giving you accurate info if anyone interested in free no obligation roof survey get in touch
