Solar PV Slates

Has anyone had experience of PV slates / tiles? We have a customer who likes the idea:banghead:

hi pvman, what are they like to fit, do inverter manufacturers recognize them on their design software? (sma / fronius / power one) anything really, just after as much info I can find, not fitted them before only above roof and ground mount systems (approx 1.5MW worth of various sized systems)

Solar Century C21 are pretty much the only established player for this, but others may offer alternatives. They have a wholesale division so give them a call (and ask them to send me their commission please) They have their product on PVSol, but don't know about manufacturers design software. Regards fitting it is essentially a re-roof so I would suggest it would be sensible to have an experienced roofer in your team when fitting. Oh, and they are expensive, of course.

Hi TJ, We use PVsol for the design so I can't comment on the inverter companies software.

The solar slates/tiles need to be mounted on batten, this causes a problem if the original battens are the incorrect size or poor quality. Obvoiusly this is not problem on a new builds.
