Hi, new to this forum so hello all.
Basically I am after advice on how to get my NVQ the best way and if I'm honest probably the quickest.
i have been working as electricians mate for nearly 24 years and have lots of experience in many fields but just never qualified, I started college a couple of times but life and outside influences forced me to drop out. Some employers seemed to prefer this from a monetary point of view. I would just like to further myself and see how far I can go, as I believe at 42 I am now ready (ridiculous I know)
I recently passed my 17th edition course.

Well.......you must have worked with some sparks who were pleased with what you did so you could ask them to support you in terms of allowing you to do works which can be evidenced as proof of your competency. I have not done the NVQ myself but understand you need to build up a portfolio of evidence of different types of installation work. Your first step, though, is to find a local NVQ provider (proper college not some distance learning on the internet) and find out what they want from you, including spondoolies.

You won't get the NVQ 3 without either the 2330 levels 2 and 3, or completing the awarding NVQ body's theoretical competency test. (I don't know if this is still valid, or what the test involves).

AFAIK you still need the theory AND practical.

HTH

Im in my last year of the 2330 now I have put myself through it on a night, I wanted to and still want the nvq but it would never have gotten completed in the job I currently have, I had an email from David xs training as the final registration date was the 31st of december so not sure how I can gain the qualification in the future does anybody know?
