Something melting....................

Hello all,

I come across this at my local town hall. Does anyone know what this is that is melting and what could be causing it?

That's the bitumen leaking from the service head. Contact the DNO immediately and the will replace the head usually within 24 hours.

Cheers Sintra. I take it there is a fault in the service head then. Would this be a fire risk? Thanks alot.

You could argue that it may be a fire risk.

Trouble is, most of these heads still in service, all leak and not many sparks bother to do anything about it.

Report it and it will be sorted.

Normally it is down to the heating up of the supply cables more than likely due to additions to the existing installation.

It needs immediate attention , i have seen this situation befor it went with a bang ,could be an idea to get them to store the garden fork in another place to
