hi,
not posted on here for a long time. sorry if this is in the wrong forum. my current company are in the process of bringing in a new way of pay. they call it a schedule of rates. rather that pick up a salery, we get paid for each job we do. eg changing a lamp xx amount, new circuit xx amount. we are PAYE and work for a housing association. anyone else working to these codes? they have told us alot of housing associations are using them. but judging by the prices we going to be getting a 40% pay cut! any help is grateful. once again, sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum

thanks

This does not seem fair to me, they appear to want you to work harder to achieve the same money.

This is more a self employed labour only system, my advice would be to contact the CAB.

thats pretty much the same thinking as me. they dont want to pay us for travelling between jobs either. but about a third of my day is travelling! just wanted to see if there was any other people on here who work for housing associations, as they have told us nearly all are using it. which i know is bo llocks

Hi,
lots of organisations use SoR, but not necessarily in the way your employer plans to. It's basically transferring risk from them to you (i.e. if you take 3 hours and the rate is 1 hr), although a lot depends upon the pricing associated with the schedule. Travel can be an issue, particularly where as you have stated, it is a substantial % of the working day.

Hopefully you already know the type of work which comes up regularly, and typically how long it takes you do do various, typical jobs (you may have already worked this out given your suggestion of a 40% pay cut!).

Unfortunately, lots of employers are looking to cut costs and this is just another example. They can change your employment conditions with notice - it's a sad sign of the times. The best you can do is try to negotiate as a group, and achieve the best rates you can - good luck.

Regards
