I think lot of spammers have humans sign up accounts... once the account is present and activated they hand it off to a bot to do the grunt work.

Cleaning up shouldn't be too bad as there's only two users involved (at the moment). When I took over the management of a game development forum I had to clean up about 250k fake accounts
