Took the cover off a CU and as I always do Ze 1st Iwas checking to identify the main earth conductor as sometimes the main bond will be run in 16mm, but at first look it seemed that there was no main bond I took out the main earth and tested for Ze then i saw a10mm earth peeking out from behind all his little cpc freinds but there was no bared end, so I dug it out and tested it back to the airing cupboard where the water boiler and pipes are and it read 0.17 I put the croc clip on the earth bar to see if there was any thing there and I got 0.01 connected the "spare" earth to the MEt and it went up 0.15, so I have acceptable reading with this conductor off so any ideas why its there and where it goes .anyone??

Happy hunting, you are the one with eyes on the ground. Go round the property looking for the usual suspects inc an old earth spike..............

It,s a odd one, I know the estate well, no old spikes. The norm was the mian bond came into the cupboard and bonded onto the main water pipe inside, and above stopcock the water supply being in plastic but there is no main bond visible at all the installer has done several houses here and I can follow his work easily from past experience but this one has me baffled,It,s defiately sound I just cant visually verfy it,s existance it,s irking me more than worrying me
