Do any of you keep a spare or stand-by MFT? If so, is it the same make/model as your 'main' one?

I was just pondering how far up the creek I'd be if mine developed a fault or worse still, legs. All the eggs are in one basket with an MFT, so it'd make sense to have a spare, but with the price of them owning one is an expensive game, never mind two.

Must admit I do just in case the main MFT goes south.

But my other reason is this.

When trying to locate a fault especially a IR fault or trying to locate the fault by getting closer with you resistance reading I found my MFT slung around taking a battering.

So I have a few stand alone units which were cheap to buy really.

I also have a Robin KT 62 which is a excellent bit of kit but you have to keep changing the leads from Low ohms to live tests (again cheap on Fleaabaaaay)

I also like the Megger 320 stand alone unit as it will give you K ohms readings where the 1552 only clicks at readings above 99.9 K and can be a bit misleading if you don't hear the click of the tester telling you their is a resistance.

Just my opinion !

Tell you what I will do for you -- I will plant a red flag just round the corner just past the quicksand & wild rapids -- which is just about where I am at the moment and paddling fast in the wrong direction as my MFT failed the 'drop' test at the weekend from 2 stories high (ouch.
A very expencive mistake

Therein lies the problem. I see no merit in further circular debate, so will bow out of this discussion.
