Just wondering if anybody could help me through finding out why and help fixing it? I can imagine this is basic to all of you and my apologies if its been asked/in the wrong section. Its a gas cooker, the spark is gone to ignite the flame, no clicking noise, any help would be appreciated.

If its not mains powered ignition you may either have the above or it may be battery powered .. check the blurb on your cooker (look online if lost) and see if just wants a new battery.... the battery option is usually reserved for gas only no electric connection.

A piezo spark (crystal) will spark once per press and button will feel heavily sprung until it clicks over.
A mains or battery can give repeating sparks while button is held down and little pressure usually needed to operate button.

Yep, as mentioned check if the socket has power if it's a plug-in hob otherwise check battery. Last resort replace the ignition piezo unit or circuit board. What make and model hob is it?

thanks for the replies chaps, il check when i get home what make and model it is, and if its mains, i googled how to check the blurb on cooker and it just gave me cooking websites :/ EG jamie olivers. Pretty sure that isnt what you meant pal? ha. I will get back to yous when i find out if it has a battery. Thanks again

It will be one of two things, your switch or your spark generator, it wont be a peizo.

From the plug top or battery +/-, check continuity to the spark generator ensuring spark switch is activated.

Cheers

Had a problem with a Moffat Hob re ignitor, found that the Ignitor button, even under rubber shroud, had got "cacked" in oil and fat from cooking. Got shroud off and got the householder's first aid kit WD40. loosened up press buttona treat, and Hey Presto sparks now even on the lightest touch.

If you find the answer, can you let me know.
I seem to of lost my spark as well.

...This happened to myself, and my good lady, but we discovered www cartoon role play.com,and dress up as characters from Sponge Bob Square Pants....

...It opened my eyes...and i've seen more scandal than a coppers' torch...
