Here's my dilemma; I'm 23 years old. done a apprenticeship , acquired a level 3 City and Guilds technical cert, and a level 2 NVQ. the company let a load of us go and i started working as a sparks on a self employed basis and couldn't complete my level 3.now i work for a firm as an electrician and feel unable to do level 3 as it would mean site visits etc which would tell my boss that im not the full ticket.

im not a cowboy though, i have completed the 17th edition and hope to start the 2391, its just that the nvq is a awkward one to get. help!

I would say you are technically qualified, just tell him you are doing it to get JIB gold card status for your own peace of mind. Plus if you know your stuff site visits will only take a short time.

I hope this helps

Chris

im in the exact same position as you joe, or was shold i say as i've just been laid off. Been told by my college i have till 22nd may to get back in with a company as they wont assess me and sign my work off if i go self employed. Do you require NVQ 3 to be niceic registered?

i know someone who is an NICEIC registered domestic installer and all he has done is the 17th 2382! he's also gas safe (the new corgi) and he managed to get both accreditations within one year ! i do want tot be approved though, and that means having nvq3, 17th edition (i got my exam next tues). And 2391.

I'm just gonna do 2391 after i get my 17th. Don't know wether to do 2392 to make sure i pass 2391. might even do an am2 and then just say come on... whats a poxy portfolio?
