I have existing outside power going to my shed. If I extend the lighting circuit to have a bulk head on the outside of the shed would this come under a special location? The wiring would come straight from the inside of the shed to the back of the bulk head on the outside with no exposed wires. Elecsa are coming out to assess some of my work and I'm changing the CU in my own house as the major work and adding an additional light seemed pretty straight forward for the minor. Just not sure if it would be regarded as minor if it comes under a special location.

Thanks

SWA running along the garden wall from a second CU where we had an extension built that is now our kitchen. I guess I could add a spur to the exisiting socket inside the shed?

Assumming shed is in garden ......................regs no Part P yes.

Suprised Elecsa have insisited on 2 they normally take the CU change as the only one needed. If they have insisted on 2 make sure they will accept the same location, the NICEIC want 2 different locations, but that is just them.

Part P does not differentiate what is minor and what is not. They just deiferentiate the difference between non and notifiable. It's the Regs that do this. That would be a MIEWC that is notafiable.

I think the two posts together have cleared it up. Notify building control of both works but I would only need a MIEWC for the lighting and electrical installation certificate for the CU change. Elecsa have asked for a minor and major electrical work but are happy for them to be in my own home. Thanks for the quick response.
