Hi guys for the last year I have fancied a few tools but was worried about how much they cost against how much I would use them. However I have just finished a little job and have decided to use some of the money towards these tools.

I want an inspection camera to help search for lost cables, pipes under floors etc and have looked at these:

  • Seesnake Micro 2
  • Milwaukee C12IC
Has anyone on here used either?

I am also wanting a laser measuring device as I really must be the clumsiest person in the world with a tape measure so have looked at:

  • Leica Disto DXT
  • Dewalt DWO30P
I know the Leica can measure further but for domestic use imaging 30 meters will be more than enough, however the Leica is waterproof but twice the price!

Any help would be greatly appreciated or even if you just have any views on these!! Cheers

I would say the both inspection cameras are almost identical and will basically perform the same task well. Milwaukee do a larger screened version bit more pricey but a definite difference in performance though not available on the UK website so may have to search around for it. Plus it has a 9.5mm diameter inspection wire to get into even smaller holes.:D

Power Tools - M12™ Cordless System - M-Spector™ AV M12™ Cordless Multimedia Camera Kit (9.5mm)

As for the distance measurers I've got the older version of the disto great tool very accurate etc, I would personally go for the D2 version, as you say it will be mostly used on domestic and most of that would be inside so no real need for the DXT version which is almost twice the price and has essentially the same functions as the D2 half of which you will never use;). Mine doesn't have that level of IP protection and i've spilt water all over it before, correction the plasterer has spilt water on it before . Cheers and happy spending wish I could at the mo:D

Cheers mate. Ended up ordering the Milwaukee camera and got a good deal on a now discontinued Leica A3. Still not too sure how much use they will get but fancy the laser for marking out lights and the camera for checking inder floorboards before getting the big circular saw out.

If anyone else is looking at cameras, after much research the Milwaukee came out better for me as the (supplied) rechargable battery lasts upto 15 hours as opposed to the 3 hours you get from the 4xAA in the seesnake. Also the screen is better resolution on the milwaukee and it came in £55 cheaper.
