hi folks would i be right or wrong sayin that the spike readin in a tt system is therefore also the external loop impedance? replies much appreciated

If measured with a loop tester at the CU then yes.

With any bonding etc disconnected.(All power off) Shortest path and all that.

Only reason I said is I didn't know if you were thining of a proper earth electrode test with current spikes, as this wouldn't include the MEC in the measurement.
