Hi all,

I'm a second year apprentice with limited install experience. I know how to wire up a ceiling rose and all.

How would I go about wiring up lets say 10 spot lights in a kitchen all switched from one switch?

Thanks

power to a MF junction box, switch line + return to switch then back to JB, switch line and neutral to first spotlight and then loop out to the next light etc.?

wire the first as a rose. then loop the s/l,n, and E through all the rest. or, to save looping in ceiling, loop at switch, block the N's. where's my tin hat?

You can loop at the switch with any wiring system you like! We loop at the switch every single day! Bugger working above your head looping at pendants all day!

All you need is a switch line and neutral at each light. Its up to you whether or not to use the switch box or JB in the ceiling to make off your 3-plate connections.

Although you may have a problem with accessibility if you stick JBs in the ceiling.

I personally like to have immediate access with minimum buggering about up a ladder.

So as long as all the connections are tight and marked up you should be Ok.

Ok thanks mate. Another thing, I know if a one spotlight burns out frequently than the others could that mean the live and neutral are wired the wrong way round?
