Hi,
Just some advice on some spotlights in a loft conversion that the customer wants that I'm pricing up.

Are they're any special spots for this purpose, as obviously i will be removing the insulation from around the spots and not complying then with Part L?

Any ideas welcomed,

Many thanks

you must reinstate the fire integrety of the ceiling either by using fire hoods or flameguard fittings i prefer the latter much easier to install

I've got max of 4 1/2 inches before the roof tiles, but this will be insulated, and you're not supposed to penetrate the insulation, so wondering if they're are any special spotlights I can use.

Been in this scenario loads of times, if the builder is using kingspan then its difficult to install them without cutting a large slice out of the insulation, which should not be done. I usually get the builder to use triso, and because it’s only paper-thin and comes on a role, he forms it round the intended position of the light. You will need to remember and leave loads of room heat to be dispersed. The building control officer has seen me do this loads of times and never had a problem with this method.
