I have to install some spots (down lights) in an outside canopy on the front if an house. What's the recommended IP rating for this?? Also as far as I remember if there is no living space directly above then they don't have to be fire rated??
 
I would say you could get away with IPX1 if you were really stingy, but then I would probably get something IP44 and fire rated, just because they can actually be terminated properly and seem to stay in 1 piece longer then 1 lamp change.
