Newsome3

Well was changing a load of socket fronts today and I found this
Was really shocked as was a newly rewired house
I poped up a floorboard and found that it was fused down on a spur on a surface box under floor
What's your thinkings on this!!!

what numpty does that , and doesnt comply with the regs they could at least have fixed to to an accessible wall easy enough to do especially if it was rewired

i have seen one fixed to the floor boards with a dry lining box , it would have been one way of getting out of the vacuming just run over the switch and switch the socket off

Done by somebody who clearly doesn't understand the regs.

that's nothing. some years ago was called out to a faulty alarm system.every time the mains failed, the alarm sounded. first thought was battery or battery fuse. asked client where the alarm panel was and he pointed to the keypad by the front door, hanging off the wall. ( 2 1/2 "screws into plaster, no plugs ). no, sez i, the panel. don't know, he replies. 1 hour later i find the panel lying under the bedroom floor.switched FCU lying next to it. 13Afuse. no battery in panel. the poor sod had paid £1200 for this "system". only 2 PIRs. installed in 3 hours. i reported the installers to trading standards, and a few months later was a knock on the door. happy client had got his money back and was clutching a bottle of 12 year old single malt. happy days.

Hope that was with 2 straws so you could share it with him good on you mate thats what its all about

he stayed for a shot, then left me to it. slept like a baby that night.

That's thing
The client newly moved in not cert or anything
I'm returning to do outside lights so I'll end up trying to get on ring if not I'll end up making it accesable
Some sparks ot so called sparks really annoy me

some would argue that if the floor board was screwed down and not nailed, and correctly identified, then the f/s beneath would be accessible.
