spur off cooker switch

can i spur off the cooker switch to a new cooker hood with a fused spur and would 2.5 t/e be ok
any adive you may have i would be greatfull

I've recently seen in a loft a 6mm radial off a 32a MCB, feeding 5 Twin sockets then off the last socket there was a 2.5mm to a Switched FCU fused down for a light. Not something you see everyday but i couldn't see any immediate danger. Calcs work out ok.

The only other scenario seen very often is your cooker circuit to isolator, then down to cooker outlet, then next to the outlet a single socket. this being the same idea

I believe you are permitted to have overcurrent protection downstream of the point of connection for a reduction in cable size,so has long as there is capability of fusing to limit what the cable can carry with the switched spur then it would be ok I would suggest

yes its ok its the same as spuring direct of a 32a ring main mcb

Yes it is ok jst try pick an cooker hood with a low current demand as cooker circuits are temperamental at the best of times. Use the same size of cable that supplies the cooker from the FCU to the new FCU for the cooker hood. To supply the cooker hood 2.5mm should be fine.
