Hi just a quick one, I've got to re-wire a socket as the old socket is very badly damaged. The socket that needs re-wiring is spurred from an above socket but trying to get the whole wire out may prove difficult. The end of the wiring has been damaged and if I can chase up the wall to a clean bit of wire I would like to put in a junction box. My only problem this is a wall that will then need plastering can you get wall junction boxes or if not what can you use please. Hope this makes sense?

I would in all honesty advise against plastering over a junction box , If you really can't replace the hole cable install a metal back box connect the cable within that ( crimps, wago's etc and fit a blank plate

ok brilliant I will try and pull the whole cable through its not too bad until half way and then there are some rather lovely decorative tiles that they don't breaking and I'm hoping the cable will just pull through if I can chase half way up otherwise I'm stuck!

bearing in mind wiring regs, cable zones etc, can you get a spur from somewhere else ? If you have to risk the tiles, I feel you must explain to the customer there is a risk and they should still be prepared to pay you if you crack a couple. Can see you getting a bill for a whole wal of tiles if you cant get exact matching ones, etc. Be carefull mate.
Certainly spend ages digging out the grout around each tile, then try to flick them off with a wallpaper stripper.

All the good suggestions have been made
One other way, if as you say you have a piece of wall that you can chase
Strip the cable back, hopefully, until you find a clean end ,crimp a new length to it and enclose in a short piece of plastic tube then seal both ends and plaster over

there is another way.....

TRUNKING YAYYYYY!!!!

I actually had a customer this very day who ASKED for mini trunking. Right across the ceiling. Said I could put it above the ceiling but they were certain they wanted trunking (I reckon theres a dead body up the attic...)

they will regret that in the summer when the juices start to drip :D
did a rewire once after the planks had decorated the full house all stud walls but they would not hear of anything other than surface fitted boxes and trunking everywhere it looked a right dog but the customer is right. no stitching or pulling or chasing well an easy day out
