A mates asked me how to make off several old VIR’s, 19/.044 3c. Simple enough until he said they were DWA (double wire armoured). The cables are near 60 years old and still test >100MΏ for a run of near 300M.

OK then you need stalk glands with a taper collar. Davis of Derby was the last place we used to buy them from, no trace of them on their site. I’ll get him to ring Davis on Monday but I don’t hold out much hope.

Anyone any idea where they are available from. I’ve looked on mining supply sites, in fact everywhere I can think of.
Was hoping some of the old dogs on here may have an idea.

I’ll try and do a drawing to show what I mean.

Jesus Tony, haven't seen those double armoured cables for donkey's years now. First saw them in the companies foundry and forge, quite big buggers too, run in 2 X parallel runs.... They also had some double STA cables. Now they were a real pain to terminate, even in single STA form!! lol!!

Please don't remind me of tape armoured! They were leathal, sliced finger ends if you got away lightly.

One thing though, if we still used DWA there’d be no arguments about using armours as the CPC.

Don't you believe it, ...There will still be some plonker that's been told by the highest authority, not to use the DWA amouring as your CPC!! lol!!!
