Just done my Assessment with Elecsa and used a 3 panel starter kit.

Panels can be mounted on a flat roof (with penetrations), patio or on the garden!

Will hire out the whole lot for short periods for you to install, practise testing, use as 1st install for assessment, dismantel and return.

PM me for more details.

You would have to arrange pick-up and return - should all fit in the back of a transit sized van.

Is it possible to do the MCS assessment with a system that someone else has just used to do theirs ? . . using the same gear ?

The assessor who did mine said that he was sure that he had seen some pieces of kit before, and didn't have a problem with my 'plan'.

All I'm doing is loaning some kit out for people who are having difficulty getting a 1st job. I don't intent to help them install it.

I'm sure he thought it was a good idea. Keeps him in work. Is it truly practical help to a future installer or just financial? I can see the good intention but a system that is passed from property to property, stood in the garden and plugged in isn't really providing true hands on experience of installing. So it will be at the first clients expense to achieve the practical knowledge.

Don't get me wrong we all have to start some where but in my opinion one of the critical mistakes made by the scheme providers was the reduction in numbers of system needed to of been installed prior to assessment. When we joined the MCS via the NICEIC we had to have two systems in place. Both gave us very practical experience on the roof works, bracket choice etc. As both systems are on our own properties we had the ability to try this and that and over come some issues which we hadn't thought about.

As I say just my opinion.

I agree most of the contractors that i have spoken to who are looking to get into solar think that i am lying and trying to protect my market when i tell them how much it will cost and the hassle and stress that is involved !
If you think cash flow on the 4 -10 kw jobs is bad just wait till you start the 50 kw ones as with the smaller orders the wholesalers wont give you any credit !
I have , and i am being honest started getting noticeably more white hairs since going mcs !
For me it is the worry of a costly mistake or being supplied the wrong advice / kit on this size of system that plays on the mind the most .
