Hi all,

Have been saving a lot to build some capital. Working as a manager in factory at the moment but want to get back on the tools so have been saving like crazy to relieve the pressure a little.

What do I have to consider about setting up my own business and start taking on some work on evenings and weekends? All whilst staying employed?

Is this possible? And what steps would you recommend? Is there any websites that people use with useful information regarding this?

Sorry for all the questions guys, I hope you can help.

Cheers
Matt

First thing you need to consider is does your employment contract (or employers general conditions) allow you to also be self employed and if your current job is electrical related does your contract (or employers general conditions) allow you to trade in the same business.

from a practical point of view its insurance and essential kit such as a MFT. also in wales the Part P i believe is more stringent so need to keep on right side of things. long term you will likely be looking at a scheme.
