Hi all

Having a bit of a nightmare, client has specified a particular Inverter for a 250KWp installation but upon clarification, as its transformer-less and Chinese, I will now be required to install a step up transformer from 270V to 400V. Does anybody have any idea where i can source one?

Thanks in advance

Tony

Just tell the client he is wrong and it will not work.

You will need to install inverters that are G59 approved and are compatible with the UK grid, if you install what he wants then the probability is the DNO will not approve it and tell the customer to shut the system down, then what?

noooo never tell a client they're wrong, they're never wrong, just not always entirely right.

explain that while the inverter may be cheaper, it will cost him more money because of the G59 relay box & step up transformer that would be needed to make it compliant, so in your professional opinion it would be the better value option to opt for a UK spec European inverter that doesn't need any of those add ons and will therefore be cheaper and more reliable.

something like that anyway.

thanks for the replies, the inverter has been approved for connection by DNO and as its a 250KWp system the G59 relay board is a requirement as standard.

Managed to find a step up transfer custom built for less than getting an alternative inverter from the usual channels. DNO witness testing arranged and should be running in 4 weeks time :icon7:.
