Ive just spent 2 days pricing a night club , built up quite a rappor with the owner, did all the design calc's inc. em and fire alarms, advised them on dmx controlled effects an audio supplies, gave him the figre over the phone so as not to disclose too much info . sounds fine he say's when can you start so I told two weeks lead in and asked for a deposit - no problem he say's but before I transfer the deposit can you sent me spec and breakdown of costs .
Which I did , phoned him today for feedback and
Oh I had to pass the info on to my partner who has a mate thats an electrician to get a price chek!
ever felt mugged!!!

For this reason I never email specs to customers if they need the info without payment it is printed on to fluorescent orange paper with headers and footers declaring copyright

The reason for the orange paper is that it cannot be photocopied unless you want a completely black piece of paper as that is all you will get

I release the spec upon payment to cover the cost of producing it

I have been stung like this a number of times and try to make sure it never happens again now

It wouldn't surprise me if the partner in the business is a spark as it is surprising the number of second rate sparks are in the nightclub business

He phoned late this afternoon and said he will let me know Friday or Monday - I'm not holding my breath

yes I ought to to also sent him all the Zs and R1 + R2 calcs - don't normally do it but he seemed so receptive - I am now reflecting

I like the orange paper idea though very creative, you never know mate you may just get a call on friday saying yep thats great
