Hi guys i had my tools stolen from the house i was working in 2 days ago,
i stupidly left my tools in the empty property overnight, only to return to find the house had been broken into and my hand tools and 2 works drills missing. I work for a housing association who have said it was my fault and that they will only replace their tools and that i should pay for mine. My employer has never stated to me that tools should not be left in the property.
Has this happend to anybody else? (i hope not) but if this has who replaced what tools.
Any help or advice will be thankfully recieved.
Also can anybody point me in the right direction for good tool insurance company.

Please let this be a lesson too others.
Please look after your tools and dont just presume their insured by your employer.

sorry to hear that not good mate, Ive had my vans done over a few times. never bothered trying to claim any insurance as they make it nearly imposible for you to prove what was taken and your premium will double anyway.

I would say your lucky the company are replacing any tools and not blaming you.

Got to be honest, i never leave tools on site, except step ladders or extension leads etc.

Im sure there is an insurance policy you could take out to cover this kind of thing, but its possible the premiums may be quite high.

It nearly happened to me last Saturday, went to do some work on an empty house that was to be rented out, I decided to take my tools with me (I was going to leave them until I returned on Monday)............the house was broken into on Saturday night
