storage box

Hi all
i'm looking for a decent storage box to carry all my bits and bobs, i've seen the lift and lok ones, which when full, seem very heavy.
any ideas?
these 2 pictures show one which is a bahco one, looks quite good, and the second one is a plano fishing tackle box. anyone used one of those?

I confess I haven't any experience of either of these, but for 12 years I did own a company that made flightcases and therefore have a bit of knowledge of cases. That knowledge leads me to suspect the fishing box may not be suitable for carrying anything that has any sort of weight to it as it's designed for fishing tackle - nylon line, fishing flies etc and a few lead weights, maybe a knife, but not sets of screwdrivers, pliers side cutters ..... you catch my drift??

What I am saying is one of those cases is specifically designed to store & carry tools in a working environment and the other for hobby materials to be used on weekends.

IF you can get to see both of these boxes side-by-side and you know what you're going to be putting in them and what sort of environment they're going to be stored / used in THEN you can make your decision.

I got three storage cases from the orange shed for about a tenner each, they are nice and deep and do the job cheaply enough.

Don't get anything flimsy. It won't last 5 minutes. Think about what your storing, apart from rawlplugs everything else is metal. So you want something sturdy to hold its shape when it's full up. And it's gonna get knocked and bashed..

I've got a couple of Stanley fat max ones from screwfix that clip together and be carried as one. I think the max you can clip together is three but I've only got two. £17ish quid each from memory.

Have a look at this Facom 46 Drawer Pro Organiser : Tooled-Up.com a bit dear but you do get them on offer now and againthink I paid £30 +vat. The best thing about them is they fold up on there self so lids can't pop open, been using them for 4/5 years now the only thing that they haven't stood upto was a forklift running over it

I agree .... that's what I used to tell my customers when I had the flightcase company. We weren't the cheapest, but we were always amongst the top 10 of the 30 or so case makers in the UK at that time.

I folded that company in 1995, but still see cases that we made in 1984 still doing the rounds.
