need a few pointers with testing offpeak storage heaters CU
no prob with dead tests but what about the live tests Zs /Ze ?
don't think turning up at midnight when it comes live is an option
would you issue seperate test sheet for power/lighting CU & Offpeak CU or use a continuation sheet

elfyn

ze can be obtained by measuring at the main board, (it will be the same as the off peak)

zs can be calculated from this and r1+r2

cheers for the reply
i agree on the Ze being the same at both points but was lead to believe the measured Zs value was the way to go with the calculated Zs as a cross check.
offpeak CU also has an 80amp 30ma rcd main isolator any thoughts on testing it
elfyn

Calculated zs is fine but obviously you need power to test the rcd.
If its a pir you are doing you could make a note to say that you were unable to test it.
Otherwise it's a case of livening it temporarly or a midnight visit.

no its a EIC not a PIR ,changed both boards as they were old wylex rewirable's & the usual main earth gas & water incomer to 10mm as tncs supply.
tested everything apart form final offpeak CU measured Zs's & Main RCD
i left it locked off as no heating required at the moment but need to get it finished this week.
temp power lead it is then as i ain't doin a midnight run:p.
cheers elfyn
