hi guys, a strange question but do storage heaters have internal timers to make them come on at night or is it something to do with economy 7 (whatever its called nowadays) meters:confused: thanks.

correct. it's the meter/s that do thee timing. old installations had 2 meters and a time clock, more recent ones have a dual meter with 2 readings, one for normal use and one for economy 7. with these later ones everything in the home is at cheap rate at night, not just the storage heaters.

thanks guys, funnily enough telectrix what you said is what i was confused about? i can get my head around the old 2 meter system, but as the new meters just have 2 readings what spurs the storage heaters to start at night? or is there 2 sets of tails (peak and off-peak) going to seperate cu's?

sorry for the newb question but i'm concerned his heaters would be on 24/7 and my storage heater knowledge is nowt, but i knew you guys wouldn't let me down. thanks again.

It's a radio signal sent to the 'telemeter' when the economy tarrif comes on line-these meters can also give a 'boost' hour in the afternoon at the same cheap rate.
