Is the 24 hour side of the Storage heating board on a cheaper tariff than the domestic Consumer unit?

How many sets of tail do you have from the meter?

I have Economy 7, set of tails for the Domestic Consumer unit, tails for the 24hours heating, tails for the storage heating and a tail for the off peak water heater.

But what im not sure about is, is the 24Hour Heating cheaper all day compared to the Domestic board? or how does it work?

E7 is between certain hours and most jobs i've seen have 2 CUs a E7 fed one and a 24-7 fed one

The E7 feeds items such as storage heaters

yea i know that the E7 comes on a certain times of the night and supplys cheaper electricity to the storage heaters, but is the 24hour heating side of the board cheaper all day or only at the times the off peak is on?

Depends if you have 2 boards.

Places near me are

2 supplys, 1 normal all day long and 1 cheap during the hours - 2 cus

1 supply everything supplied via same tails, normal and cheap - 1 cu and all heating a immersions controlled by a system i know ---- all about lol

I am not certain here as I cannot see the set up but I would suggest that what you have is the storage heaters supplied by the cheap (overnight hours) economy 7; the main domestic power and 24 hour heating supplied by the more expensive continuous supply (do not know about the a tail for the off peak water heater but if it is off peak should be Economy 7 supply).

This is presumably for the storage heaters to supply the main background heat and have boost heating from the 24hr heating.

It is very unlikely that any system supplied with continuous power would be on any sort of cheap rate.

I promise you, it is. They have an E7 meter with just one supply into the main CU. They are on the EDF 20 20 price plan
Sorry Amp I was referring to the system from the OP.
A single CU with one set of tails will be that the whole supply is on cheap rate at the cheap rate times and the more expensive rate at other times. The storage heaters / immersion need to be on timers.
The Eco 20:20 is cheap(er) rate evening/night and at weekends but not more expensive during the day.

Economy 7, a kind of electricity tariff, means that you pay a different price for your electricity at different times of day.
With an Economy 7 electricity tariff, the electricity you use at night costs less than the electricity you use during the day - a bit like peak and off-peak phone calls.
It's called Economy 7 because you get cheaper electricity for 7 hours each night.
Economy 7 tariffs use a different kind of electricity meter, which, unlike a standard meter, can track the electricity you use during the day and at night separately.

as a general rule of thumb you would need to use more than 40% of your electricity at night to make Economy 7 cost effective. Some Economy 7 plans charge almost twice the standard night rate for any electricity used in the day, which can cancel out the benefits of the cheap electricity you get at night. The more electricity you use at night and the less you use in the day, the more money you will save with Economy 7.
