I was wondering if one of you lads could please share some knowledge on this type of fault.

I went round to look at a lighting fault today. The lighting circuit is tripping the RCD.

I did an IR test and the results came back well over 200M Ohms. The neutral is in the correct Neutral bar. My initial thought was that it was a shared Neutral but this has only just started happening.

Cheers
Mark

Had the same myself a couple of weeks ago circuit was ok turned out to be the workings of a fluorescent light swapped it no problems since.

Yeah...control gear in old fluo's are renowned for breaking down and causing an RCD to trip.

Other than that did you IR test with light switches in both positions??? could be a fault on S/W or strappers.

O/S lights....
