I am surprised at the attitude of people towards me on here, I was reccomended by an electrician to come on and offer any help and advice, however everyone seems to think I am either here to spam or cause trouble or selling dodgy bulbs, it is not the reaction I was expecting.

i have spent the last 12 months setting up my business and do not warrant this attitude.

Also I have contacted the admin twice about potentially advertising on here, and have had no reply.

I think I will give this forum a miss as I appear to be not welcome here for whatever reason.

kind regards

Andy

I think the problem here lies in your second sentence "I was recommended by an electrician to come on and offer any help and advice"....Look at how it looks and sounds to others....have a think about it..and then get back to us with your prognosis.......

:drunk: Did you know .... Theatre electricians are not regarded as proper electricians in the 'trade' ?

Which is complete b******s since they often have more knowledge and experience than many electrical installers

I'm so glad I spend most of my time at the bottom of peoples gardens with a fishing rod in one hand and a screwdriver in the other :grinningelf:

Hi Andy,

I've replied to your PM.

We only allow advertisers on board that have been trading for a least a couple of years. And we certainly don't want just ebay sellers as advertisers.

Look no one is having a pop at you yes you have put a lot of work into your business and we all hope it takes off but we come on this forum to help each other out and not sell to each other because if we did nobody would know what the site was all about because of the adds one thing you are going to have to realise is if you have info on LED lighting then great but just like the phone calls to peoples houses the hard sell will not work

no one likes a salesman, i thought this forum was electricians forums not a salesman forum, if you have extensive knowledge on lamps good for you answer the threads on the subject then happy days

I am a Theatre / Touring Rock n Roll / TV electrician in semi-retirement having decided to take up house bashing instead as I can't be doing with all the travelling anymore. And yes, as a generalism, we get to know more about more because of the variety of stuff that gets thrown at us, from all over the Globe.

You wanna know how to rig up a temporary system to power 500kW of lighting, 100kW of sound, 20 tonnes of video screen and half a city of temporary catering, in a farmers field, and have 24 hrs to do it in, we're the chaps to ask. You wanna know how to turn a knackered old warehouse into a venue that satisfies the licensing regulations, we're the chaps to ask. You wanna know how to get a 1000amps of 3ph up a mountain, we're the chaps to ask. Etc, etc, etc.

Not really relevant to this thread, but thought I'd mention it as Ackbar had.
