stud finders???

I have just read on a previous post that someone is looking to buy a studfinder. Does anyone else use these?? I have thought about getting one in the past but my boss said they are a bit of a diyers tool and cant be trusted, though I could of done with one today when trying to put 18 downlights in a newly plasterboarded and painted ceiling. Can people please share their views, past experiences and recommendations... many thanks

Usually 1st fix and then 2nd fix when all the decorating has been done.

To be fair the plasterers that i use are diamond!! but as for the ones i come across on sites and developments well thats another story! how i havent commited Hari Khari on these people i dont know

I know what your saying mate,especially when they plaster your cables above the ceiling

Usually sticking the od drywall screw through em while they are at it, one day im going to snap, go up to the loft and stick my size 14 through a ceeiling wile im up there!!

And while im up there im sure there will be a plumber somewhere on the devlopment burning my bloody cables with his blow torch.
