Hi all.
So, I have pretty much no understanding of electrics and I joined this forum just so I could ask you lovely electricians a cheeky question which I understand is a really stupid thing to ask.
[This is the back story which you can just skip if you're not interested:
I got sold this totally crappy yet expensive piece of hair-styling equipment by one of those con-artists you get running stalls in shopping centres. I told myself I'd never buy from them again but being a typical woman I fell for the sales pitch bull **** and regretted it approximately 5 minutes later.
When I got home I opened the box to check if they worked because at least if they were faulty I'd have a reason to return them. They seem to be working fine. I went back to the stall and said I didn't want them and they pointed to a sign saying you can't return them if they have been opened. When I bought them I specifically asked if they accepted returns and they didn't mention this policy!]
The actual question:
People often intentionally break their iPhones or ninendo DS in order to claim on the warranty and get a replacement. Yes, I'm seriously considering damaging the product in some innocuous way so that I can claim it as faulty and get my refund. I know it was stupid of me to get conned in the first place but it was also dishonest of them to sell it to me with the notion that I can easily return it.
I'm sure you're not going to recommend me doing this... But if I did resort to it, I don't want to actually *break* it in case they still don't let me have the refund and I'm left with a broken product. So what do you think, remove the fuse, take the wiring out the plug - something repairable?
Well, thanks for even glancing at this thread - I know it's a bit pathetic but ho hum, anything is worth a try to get a wasted 70 quid back!
