hi

i have been working for a company as self employed contractor.

i have been paid two months wages for nearly five months works, i keep getting told money is owed in and promised payment but this has been dragging on for weeks on false promises.

also does anyone know i send in invoices to be paid with gross and less tax, i have not been issued with a receipt or cis for the tax paid is the invoice enough proof to the tax office that i have paid my tax?

thanks

First get in touch with your local tax office about the cis slips. Second stop working for them. Subbies should be paid weekly. Tell them your not a registered charity and you need the money.

you invoice them and they deduct 20% for labour, then they should send you a receipt with ther cis number on it showing deductions and tax paid to the inland revanue, you need these for your year end, if you havent been getting them i would contact the tax office to see if they are legit.

i have stopped working for them, a few weeks ago just a struggle getting what im owed. i dont know if i can take them to court for the money that i am owed or not?

i think i will contact the tax office as if i have not been paid wages i think its unlikey that tax is being paid the company is limited and on companies house dont know if this makes a difference?

thanks

I have been in this situation for a while, you have made the right choice, I was fortunate enough to get his van and told him hes not getting it until im paid up to date PLUS my tax slips. These payments were over a month late. I only worked this week on the promise back payments would be paid this friday, he didnt, he put me in a position so I didnt turn up today and the crap hit the fan shall we say. That was today, hes now offered me my money and the logbook to the van as insurance for payments. A computer, brand new testers!!! Hes done it so many times he knows its his last chance or he can kiss goodbye to his wheels!!!!

Its now in an undisclosed location.......safe..........for now.

Don't blame you on this one... I could be in a similar position next week! I'm only due 2 weeks worth of work so not the end of the world but it's the principle. These firms think they can just rip individuals off.
I'm sure you will get your money some time soon.

Are you in charge of the installation and can you get on site. If the answer is 'yes' and 'yes', simply take your lock-off in, lock off the electricity supply and cease work. Make it clear that no more work will be done until payment is forthcoming, and that trying to remove your lock off is criminal damage. They have your money and they are full of it. I'm sick of contractors acting like this.

If they owe you more than 750 you can get a CCJ put on the company. Some big companies will not trade/give credit to anyone with a CCJ against there name. Could be an option.
